Rated 5 out of 5 by the BEST way to integrate peripherals into an application It's often a challenge to integrate peripherals into applications if using anything other than a serial or Ethernet. All integration issues ended when I 'discovered' the 1024LS - it's a perfect match for my applications - globally. Once I understood the outputs it was very easy to use, the tech support has been outstanding (I've learned a lot through the tech support). I've had no reliability issues - I've yet to have a component fail after several years using them. it's been a pleasure working with Measurement Computing - and I'm a fan of the 1024LS. Rated 5 out of 5 by Very Pleased I've used quite a number of Measurement Computing 24-Channel I/O devices, from ISA, PCI, and now USB bus with the USB-1024LS. I've been very pleased at all aspects of this, from placing the order to coding custom software for the device, to it's rock solid reliability in handling our radio automation needs of monitoring programming closures, and switching channel assignments. I know I can rely on these devices, and will not hesitate on purchasing more as our needs expand. August 1, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 Great product for what it does. I have several of these, and use them for many temporary, setups that do not require high speed I/O. I like the suggestion that is made in another review of a USB 3.0 version, and might want to buy one or more of those, but normally I just go to a desktop computer and use the equally easy to use and cost-effective PCI bus PCI-DIO24 when I need higher speed. My only other suggestion would be a version that has the matching 37 pin connector with the PCI-DIO24, but looks as 'slick' as this one. The version that is USB and has the 37 pin connector is a bare board and needs to be mounted in a box to protect it, or make it look slicker for the client. Or just a pre-made, ready to go add-on box that fits the one you currently offer would be fine. August 1, 2013

Rated 2 out of 5 by USB 2.0 polling limit issue (1,000 per second) The USB 2.0 protocol's polling rate limit of 1,000 per second prevents REAL-TIME sampling higher than 1K samples per second, when buffering in packets will not meet design goals for real-time sampling at 50K samples per second. The Measurement Computing Tech Support Team is unaware of this USB 2.0 polling limit effect, and the Measurement Computing specification documentation does not include this important factor (and the specifications for 'MC' DAQ devices does not provide example "sample rate ability/limits", a matrix of likely configuration case studies for achievable sample rates and limits based on typical hardware & software combinations). So we need a "USB 3.0" DAQ to avoid the 1,000 per second polling limitation on real-time sample rates (when not using buffered packets), so we can achieve a real-time 50K samples per second rate. March 26, 2013

Unfortunately, the USB-1024LS cannot be hardware timed. This function is possible with some of our multifunction DAQ boards such as the USB-2500 Series.

Roger - can you provide a few more details about what you're trying to do.

I'm using the 1024LS in conjuction with a laser photo cell to detect when an object breaks the beam of light. In my case I've wired the photo cell to pins 19 and 20 (the counter), then using a timer in the software to **continually** retrieve the value of the counter. When the counter increments I know the beam has been broken - and I grab the time from the computer. I dont know if that's anywhere near what you're trying to do - but if not, shoot me any details and I might be able to help..

I want to generate clock pulse. Is there any one who know this device can generate clock pulse up to which frequency? I use for loop, sequence and "wait until timer". As I decrease waiting time, frequency only can go to 60 Hz. After that, even though I reduce waiting time, the frequency keeps 60 Hz.

The USB-1024LS is not designed for clock pulse generation since your update rate is system dependent.

Answer: 
The USB-1024LS supports 24 programmable digital I/O bits and one 32 bit event counter. The event counter would be ideal for this project in that it will count pulses (TTL) up to a 1 MHz input rate and totalize the counts it acquires. There are a couple of options for software. TracerDAQ supports the event counter but is limited to 32K counts. TracerDAQ PRO ($199.00) increases the count total to 1 million samples. If using TracerDAQ the Initial logging is to a binary file with the capabilities of converting the file to a .CSV file for use with Excel.
