Rated 3 out of 5 by Unclear input filtering, if any We put this into a setup with 4 differential inputs with content up to ~ 10 MHz and got rather large noisy signals compared to the 1608FS ($399) we are also using. We were hoping to measure just the DC average value of these signals, basically. This is pretty naive, but, since we learned something, figured I would post. To reduce complexity, we pulled the card out and connected up 3 channels directly to a function generator running a 2Vpk-pk sine wave. The fourth went to a power supply (impedance unknown, presumably low). With 1 MHz input waveforms there is considerable noise on the the signals suggesting a lack of filtering. I realize this is a very slow sampling card, but just want to caution users that there is certainly no brick wall filter and maybe no filter at all to stop you from shooting yourself in the foot. We did not see crosstalk to the input connected to the power supply, but we were not looking down in the mud. A better description of the input impedance and crosstalk specs would be a nice add to the datasheet. August 12, 2014

Rated 4 out of 5 by Easy to install, use and understand We have been using this device to measure, collect, record and reproduce the data generated in our R&D lab with great success. But as we needed to use hardware trigger to record the data, we had to get TracerDAQ Pro software to serve our purpose. It is easy to configure, has ample sampling frequency and resolution to serve our purpose. Having multiple channels is quite helpful to us. I wish to use its other capabilities soon. August 28, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by quick and easy, works great Have three of these kicking around- two in constant use plotting signal strength with the free TracerDAQ software and one as a troubleshooting tool. Software is pretty basic but does the job. Installation for all was quick and easy, and we had them up and running in a very short time. Third system is used for troubleshooting- monitor a bunch of signals using a small .net application. Pretty basic but very useful. August 27, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by You can't go wrong I've use MCCDAQ cards and USB devices over the years, and they do pretty well. The big thing is the documentation, examples, and technical support that you get with these products. Definitely will use it in future projects. The *one* drawback is the TracerDAQ software; it works, but it looks a bit long in the tooth; could use some upgrading. Looks like it was built with an old software tool. August 26, 2013

Answer: 
The accuracy specs are warranted at 25 deg C for 1 year from original ship date. The self-calibration in the field does not need to be run to meet the 1 year accuracy specs, unless field conditions are fairly different than 25 deg C.

It seems that you can't have a background analog input operation going on and still use the analog output or digital channels. I really didn't expect this. What do we look for in the specs to avoid this in the future?

Summary
The bus-powered USB-1208LS from Measurement Computing adds a low-cost analog and digital I/O interface to any USB port. Providing eight single-ended or four differential analog inputs with 12-bit resolution, the USB-1208LS offers sample rates up to 1.2 kilosamples/sec (8 kS/s for up to 4000 samples).

The USB-1208LS also offers eight software selectable input ranges, making it ideally suited for a wide assortment of measurements. In addition to the analog inputs, the unit provides two 10-bit analog outputs, one 32-bit counter, and 16 digital I/O lines.

The USB-1208LS is reliable and rugged enough for any DAQ application. If it weren’t, it wouldn’t come with an industry-best limited lifetime warranty and Harsh Environment Program.

The combination of the USB-1208LS and Measurement Computing’s DAQ software suite gives you a complete data acquisition solution that will have you taking measurements in minutes. The device is fully USB plug and play and easy to use. It is powered from the USB port, so no external power connection is ever required.

DAQami™ DAQami™ gives users an easy-to-use drag-and-drop interface that makes acquiring, viewing, and logging data a quick and simple task. Users simply select a supported device, configure device channels and other analog input options, and then select one or more displays to plot the data. When a DAQami acquisition is run, the program acquires and logs data from the selected channels, and plots the data on the displays for viewing.
DASYLab® Software DASYLab® Software lets you interactively develop PC-based data acquisition applications by simply attaching functional icons. DASYLab offers real-time analysis, control, and the ability to create custom graphical user interfaces (GUIs). What’s more, in contrast to other graphical programming environments, which can require weeks of training to master, DASYLab has a very short user-learning curve. Many applications can be configured in a few minutes, rather than days or weeks.

Linux® Support for MCC DAQ Products Linux® Support for MCC DAQ Products is available in two different ways. MCC provides direct Linux support for our DAQFlex data acquistion products. DAQFlex products support message-based programming for both Windows and Linux. Many MCC products are also supported under third-party Linux drivers. These professional drivers provide support for many MCC products including most USB and PCI hardware.
MATLAB® Support for MCC Products MATLAB® Support for MCC Products – MATLAB® is a software environment for data acquisition, data analysis, and application development. MATLAB supports MCC hardware by using the MATLAB® Data Acquisition Toolbox™. MATLAB supports the data acquisition and analysis process along with interfacing with data acquisition devices and instruments, analyzing and visualizing the data. It also produces presentation-quality reports to share results with others.
TracerDAQ® Pro TracerDAQ® Pro provides four virtual instrument applications used to graphically display and store input data – and generate output signals – within minutes of installing Measurement Computing data acquisition hardware. The applications allow the user to customize appearance, store configurations for future use, save data to a file for export and – with the use of interactive hotspots – change settings while the application is running.
