Device works great for what we needed

Posted by dzsmith on 24th Feb 2014

So far this device has worked great for what we needed it to do. Our main use for this is with various long term life testing. It works fine with the TracerDAQ software and for fairly long test cycles. Discovered that it is unstable when trying to use at less than 1 Hz, but it works fine at 1 Hz and above and that is usually sufficient. Note: there is a 1 million sample limit across all 32 channels, possibly to accommodate Excel worksheet limits. Of course it is easy enough to save the current data and restart recording if longer is needed. The only other issue we've had is that the device stopped recording once due to an Adobe upgrade prompt. We've since made sure all upgrades were good and disabled the wireless and have had no other problems. One suggestion for anyone putting large data results into an Excel sheet is to apply Conditional Formatting; this can make the data very easy to quickly analyze. Lastly, we do plan on trying to add Labview control over this device for more direct channel control. It works great without it, but am excited to see what other capabilities it may have.

Too many functions in one unit

Posted by masonjar on 25th Mar 2013

Although this unit is advertised with Analog inputs, DIO's, and Analog outputs it is almost impossible to utilize all functions in one program. Digital output power is very weak at best...so I am using another relay board to fire SSR's for control. When using all analog input channels for data acquisition and using 3 of 4 analog outputs for control the sampling rate must be set below 3 Hz to operate. For most data acquisition in my use this is ok but it does have it's limitations. In the future I will use separate modules for analog outputs. This unit has an external 5 VDC power supply so why did MCC cut power to DIO's??
