1. Description

Firmware version 3.1.0.5_7.0.0.221

This firmware update resolves a vulnerability related to the security 
of third-party firmware.

This firmware update can be installed on all DT887x TEMPpoint, VOLTpoint,
and MEASURpoint LXI Instruments.

Microsoft Windows is required to install this update.

2. Download the firmware update files
========================================================

This firmware update requires that you update both a .bin file and a 
.bix file. These files are available from the Measurement Computing 
Firmware Update page at https://www.mccdaq.com/firmware.aspx.

1.  Download the 'image.bin' 3.1.0.5 file and save it locally.
2.  Download the 'DT8871.bix' 7.0.0.221 file and save it locally.
3.  Proceed to the firmware update procedure in section 3.

3. Updating firmware using the Eureka Discovery Utility
========================================================

Use the Eureka Discovery Utility to update the firmware of a Data 
Translation LXI instrument. The Eureka Discovery Utility is installed with 
Data Translation MEASURpoint software.

To determine the firmware version installed on the device, run the Eureka 
Discovery utility. Click on the IP address link associated with the 
instrument model to open the instrument's web server page: Device Information. 
The installed firmware is listed on the 'Firmware revision' row.

Firmware update procedure using the Eureka Discovery Utility:
Important: update the .bin file before updating the .bix file.

1.  Select a Data Translation LXI instrument from the list of located 
    instruments.
2.  Right click in the title bar of the Eureka Discovery Utility.
3.  Click the 'Firmware Update to ....' menu option. The model name changes
    depending on the instrument that you select.
4.  Navigate to the 'image.bin' file downloaded above in section 2, and
    click Open. A confirmation dialog box appears.
5.  Click Yes.
6.  When prompted for a username, enter admin. Note that this name cannot
    be changed.
7.  When prompted for a password, enter the same password that you used when 
    you configured the LAN settings for the instrument using the 
    Configuration ->LAN page of the instrument’s web interface. The default
    password is admin.
8.  Click 'Update Firmware'.
    While the file is being downloaded to the instrument, the LAN LED on the front 
    of the instrument blinks red. When the firmware update process is complete, the
    LAN LED turns solid green.
    DO NOT power off the instrument. It will reboot after writing the downloaded image 
    file to flash.
9.  Navigate to the 'DT8871.bix' file downloaded above in section 2, and
    click ok. A confirmation dialog box appears.
10. Repeat steps 5 through 8.
    While the file is being downloaded to the instrument, the LAN LED on the front 
    of the instrument blinks red. When the firmware update process is complete, the
    LAN LED turns solid green.
11. After the files have been downloaded, click 'Find LXI devices' to refresh the
    list of instruments available on the network.
