Description ============================================================== Firmware version 1.04 Device firmware version 1.04 is bundled with USB-5100 Software version 3.7.19 and later. Before running the firmware update tool download and install the software. This firmware update provides hardware compatability with current Windows and macOS versions, and is required for use with USB-5100 Software version 3.7.19 and later. ============================================================== 2. Requirements ============================================================== - .NET Framework 3.5 is required on computers running Windows 10 and Windows 8.1; enable with the Control Panel (see section 3) - USB-5100 Series Software 3.7.19 or later (see section 4) - Windows OS; the update procedure cannot be performed on macOS (see section 5) ============================================================== 3. Enable the .NET Framework 3.5 (Windows 10 and Windows 8.1) ============================================================== This section applies to computers installed with Windows 10 or Windows 8.1. If you are running a different Windows version skip to section 4. The USB-5100 Series Software firmware update program requires that .NET Framework 3.5 be enabled on a computer installed with Windows 10 or Windows 8.1. If .NET Framework 3.5 is not enabled the firmware update program may hang or becoming unresponsive during the update procedure. Enable the .NET Framework 3.5 through the Control Panel: 1. Open the Control Panel and click "Programs and Features". 2. Select "Turn Windows features on or off", and then select the ".NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)" check box. This option requires an Internet connection. You do not need to select the child options beneath this selection. Install USB-5100 Series Software 3.7.19 or later ============================================================== 1. Open the Firmware Update page at www.mccdaq.com/Firmware. 2. From the USB-5106 row, click the Download link. A window opens with Windows And Mac installer folders. 3. Download the Windows exe installer to your computer. The Mac folder contains a dmg installer that can be used to update older software on a Mac computer, but it can't be used to perform the firmware update. 4. Run the USB-5100 Series_Setup.exe file and follow the onscreen prompts to install the software. ============================================================== 5. Update the firmware using the Firmware Update Tool ============================================================== Note: The firmware update must be performed on a Windows machine. macOS users must connect the USB-5106 to a Windows computer that has USB-5100 Series Software 3.7.19 installed in order to perform the firmware update. IMPORTANT: Read out the logger and save the file before updating firmware. All data on the device is erased when you update the firmware. Firmware update procedure: 1. Connect the USB-5106 to your computer and run the USB-5100 Series software. 2. Select Help >> Update Device Firmware. 3. When prompted to check for available firmware select "Yes". 4. Change the "Files of type" option to "All files", select the USB-5106 folder and click "Select". 5. Select FW_104_Channel.hex and click "Select". A warning dialog displays that states all data will be deleted; 6. Click Continue and then Yes to start the update procedure. As the firmware update process takes place, "Boot" displays on the logger LCD screen. Do not disconnect the logger during this process. A "Firmware Update Complete" dialog box displays after the firmware is installed. Click Yes to open the "Launch Logger" dialog box, or No to close the dialog. You must launch the device before it can be used again. Note: The "Logger's Power Reset" dialog box will open each time an action is attempted until the logger is relaunched. ============================================================== 6.
