Product Reviews

Are you sure that you can't use the SerialPort interface in VS2010 with this card? It works fine with the RS232 card, without any additional software you would provide. What do you have that will work? Thanks, Bob

RS-232 is more software transparent than RS422/485. With 485, a driver/receiver needs to be turned on/off (so no two 485 devices on the line talk at once), and that was never part of the RS232 software driver standard in Windows. Each 485 board vendor had a different scheme for switching between driver and receiver mode. Our scheme was not brought forward (by us) into later O/Ss.

I want to control the serial ports with .NET Visual Studio 2010 using C#. I think the built in SerialPort object in VS2010 is all that is needed; Is that correct? Thanks, Bob

Hi Bob - The selection of 422 versus 485 is done on a per-port basis. This legacy card has driver support only up through Win2000. Newer Operating Systems that would be supported by VS2010 are not supported.
