A good board, the API is not supported making this hard when not using .net

I have used about 20-30 of these boards, and never had the problems reported in another review. But I do which the driver would be updated (although the 2000 driver does work with windows 10). It gives me the feeling after the merger the company does not plan to support long. Also the documention is only reasonable good for a .NET program. (Maybe NI but I have not tried it). It appears the board does give a serial number to the computer, so friendly names are assigned to a combination of the type of board and USB port. This is not very usefull, wonder why the bothered giving a way to chagne the name.

Not a bad product but has a few flaws

We have found that the USB port of the board sometimes does not seat properly and causes dropped data periodically. We have also had some bad channels.

Very capable DAQ

We have used this product on multiple applications with great success in VB.NET applications. A recent mapping application required data to be synced with an encoder signal. We collect over 500K samples in a few seconds on 24+ channels, and the encoder data ensures the positional integrity of every data point. The different modes of operation provide the tools needed to calibrate and test the system. This is a very capable product, especially for the money.

Hi Steve - Currently, we have one product, the BTH-1208LS, which offers Bluetooth/wireless communications: http://www.mccdaq.com/wireless-data-acquisition/BTH-1208LS.aspx This does not have as high IO rates as the product you have, but it may fit if it can meet your project specifications.

I would like to use an IOtech 3031 USB device with the latest MC Universal Library and InstaCal. Is it possible to morph the device into a 2500 series device by changing the VEN_ID and/or DEV_ID ?

Hi Jake - The earlier advice was proven out prior to Win7/8 release. Further testing shows the advice does not reliably achieve its goal on Win7/8. This compatibility was not advertised, and MCC does not plan to investigate/correct. If you wish to change from using the IOtech driver to the MCC driver, contact MCC Technical Support for the procedure and cost of returning the board in favor of an MCC branded board.

I have more information. I followed your recommended procedure, of "forcing" a usbdaqlib driver on the VID_0622 device by "Update Driver", followed by "choose from a list of [drivers on the system]". The device shows as "functioning" in Device Manager. I should specify at this point that I am running Windows 8 64-bit. The InstaCal application freezes: 1. if the device is plugged in, on instacal start (task not responding) 2. if the device is not plugged in at instacal start, but only after instacal is up, InstaCal freezes when pressing "Refresh". Hopefully this helps. I am trying to use an IOtech 3031 as an MC 2537. Thanks again.

Dear Measurement Computing: Are you sure about your answer? What I see from examining the result of DAQView installation is a bunch of oemX.inf which bind both the VID_0622 and the VID_09DB to the dax64.sys driver. This suggests that both the iotech brand and mc cards can easily be used with the IOtech drivers / software. What I see on the other side, installing InstaCal and examining the added oemX.inf files is nothing like that. The "usbdaqlib.sys" is only associated with MC-brand, VID_09DB. From here I conclude that it is not quite a symmetric situation and that only mc cards can be easily [if not ] used with the MC software (drivers and UL) Please correct my potential misinformation or misunderstanding. Thank you very much.

Yes, the boards are the same, except for the vendor/device IDs. But these do not have to change. You can use the board with either driver, assuming you installed the desired driver (or even installed both drivers). The drivers get installed with DAQView and InstaCal. Once the hardware is plugged in, let Windows load the driver it chooses … then via the device manager, right click on the device, select “update driver software…”, then select “Browse my computer for driver software”, then select “Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.” You will then see a new dialog box with both the IOTECH DAQBoard/30xxUSB and MCC USB-25xx shown. Select the one you want to use, click ‘Next’ and let it finish installing the selected driver.
