The CB-7012 supports a single channel of analog input. Supported input rages are as follows: +-10, +-5, +-1, +-.5, +-.125 and +-20 mA. If your photo eye outputs a signal within any one of the selectable input rages then the CB-7012 would be acceptable. My experience with photo eyes are that they are TTL based which means they output a 0 to 5 volt signal. If that is the case then a counter product may do the trick. You also supplied additional information regarding the need to monitor a serial port on a PC. A handful of Measurement Computing products communicate via the PC serial bus but are not capable of monitoring a PC serial port directly. Additional information on your photo eye would be very helpful in selecting the correct DAQ product. Our current software support for the CB-7024 does not include LabVIEW. Our recommendation would be to use our USB-3102 analog output device. The USB-3102 supports 4; 16 bit analog voltage or current output channels and comes with our LabVIEW drivers. The CB-7080D uses a count method where it will count the number of pulses in known Time. The accuracy is based on the selectable gate timer. The CB-7080D supports two gate timing selections, 1.0 sec or 0.1 sec which resolves to a 1 Hz or 10 Hz frequency accuracy. The CB-7080D supports two logic level digital input ranges. Depending on if you select isolated or non-isolated inputs, will determine what range you can use. The ranges are as follows: Logic Level 0: Isolated: +1 volt max Non-Isolated: 0.8 volts max (TTL) Logic Level 1: Isolated: +3.5 to 30 volts Non-Isolated: 2.4 volts min (TTL)

Hello Ventica, No software driver or file from MCC is needed to use the CB-7520 with or without any of the other CB-COM series modules. We do ship a DLL and configuration app that pre-dates Win7. While it is convenient to use to get familiar with the CB-COM modules, it was not tested on Win7, and it is not necessary to install this to use the modules.
