Good device

Very good device - I'm using it with LabView - data acquisition is very simple. Specs are average but for many applications device is quite good. It's a pity that analog inputs doesn't have BNC connectors...

Great specs, low-noise, works as advertised

I used the USB-1608FS as a wide-range load cell digitizer where the 16 bit dynamic range and noise specs were critical. Including the sensor my preamp and my anti-alias active filter I achieved at least 14 bits of noise-free data. The data sheet spec is 14.5 bits so the spec is accurate (or even conservative) I was able to resolve the weight of a 25 cent piece with a 250lb.full scale range for the load cell (+-10V range on the A/D). Another review complained about sensitivity to "external noise". That was not my experience with this module. I assume the problem was noise on the applied signal and possibly cabling problems / high source resistance causing pickup into the high input impedance (100 Megohms) of this module. Even on the +-10V input range of this module 1 LSB is 0.3mV so you need to be careful with noise on your signal, noise pickup on your cabling and probably use an anti-aliasing filter if you need 14 bit noise-free results. If you just need 12 bits of noise free data you can be more casual. I was very satisfied with this module.

Very Good low-cost general purpose multifunction I/O card

I use this product for a lot of portable applications where I can temporarily connect and A/D and do tests. The only downside so far is that it will disconnect if used with a USB hub. This is a real problem in permanent installations when you have the unit randomly disconnecting and then you have to run InstaCal to reset the configuration.

However, I have yet to be able to find an example that actually works with the USB1608FS. Do you have an example VI for USB1608FS. It seems none of the examples even have a Board ID or comport selection for the USB so how would it communicate. Also when I try to run many of your VI's I get a varity of errors such as "Error 10002 occurred at ULx Create Channel (CompI-Digital Input).vi:6730001"

The error you see is because the USB-1608FS hardware architecture does not support Composite Input scanning. While its AI channels can be read at a clocked hardware pace, its counter and digital input channels can only be read via software polling. Try running the following program that is one of the ones in the Measure Voltage LLB: ULx Acq&Graph Voltage-Int Clk.vi

I keep reading there are VI's for this device but I can not find where that actually get installed too. I do not see anything related to this product in LabVIEW 2014\instr.lib LabVIEW 2014\vi.lib LabVIEW 2014\examples or Measurement Computing\DAQ I'm just trying to find an example VI I can start with

I have already installed Instacal and the exe equivient CD you recommended. However, no VI files are included and there is no such directory that you pointed to.

Note that if you are using 32-bit LabVIEW on Win64, the path name for the examples is slightly different: C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2014\examples\ULx\Analog In\. Otherwise please contact MCC Tech Support for further assistance, as there may be some kind of unique installation issue on your PC.

Hello rr1024 - For LabVIEW 2014 you will need to install a rather recent version of our software, so be sure to install both InstaCal and ULx from a CD (or download) that is >= 6.34. Here is where we install our analog input examples on your hard drive: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2014\examples\ULx\Analog In\

I have one USB-1608FS and I have pull-up preconfigure so when it´s connected to the PC DIO are always at high level (5V) I would like to stay at 0V when there is no information, so I wanted to change to pull-down configuration, however in the version os my PCB there is no Jumper, what can I do? In the PCB says 2004 rev.4 Thank you in advance

On the older revision PCB, one skilled at soldering could perform the following: Locate 0 ohm resistor R1, which is on the same side the PCB as the LED. By default R1 is soldered to ‘H’. Unsolder, and move/re-solder R1 to ‘L’.

After you install the Universal Library from the MCCDAQ CD, example folders will be created on your hard drive. The help file is named ULHELP.CHM, and is located here: “C:\Program Files\Measurement Computing\DAQ” Assuming you are using VB2005 or newer, and assuming your O/S is newer than XP, the folder will be located here: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Measurement Computing\DAQ\VB.NET
