Nice Device

WE needed a temp logger for our freezers and fridges. The USB 501 worked nice. The Wifi and cloud app are great as we can not only monitor the temp levels but get warning if we need to move food before it spoils. Easy setup. Longer battery life would be nice but we'll plug them in.

User Friendly Remote Temperature Sensor

I used this temperature sensor to check the temperature of my well thru the recent abnormally cold periods that we've had in North Carolina. My well is about 150 feet from my wi-fi base with a brick wall in between. Had no trouble setting up the software, and got the measurements that I was after. I would like to see a unit with two temperature sensor inputs.

Great Data Logger

I work in IT, we had an engineer interested in data logging various parts of the building. The setup and installation of said data loggers was easy. The EasyLog Wi-Fi software provided was straight-forward using Windows 7. From an IT perspective I highly recommend using this product.

WPA2 Enterprise Support missing

As other reviewers have stated, the lack of data download via USB seems to be a mysterious omission. One would think that, as a primary way to recharge and configure the device, downloading the acquired data via USB is a natural. My other gripe is that WPA2 Enterprise (corporate level) security is not yet supported, making it useless to me. I was assured by Tech Support that the software update would be available to me by September. We shall wait and see. Other than those two items, it seems to be well-built and accurate. I promise to update this review when I am able to integrate it into my cleanroom monitoing system.

Works fairly well - no data access via usb...

Wifi hooks up easily the first time but I've experienced some issues when it looses a connection to the AP or also when trying to use in an environment where there are multiple AP's. Also, there is no way to download data via USB, this is particularly painful when you can't get the wifi device to re-associate with your AP and you have to go through the initial setup process, what ever data is on the device goes out the window.

We are looking for a WIFI temperature logger that can operate attached to a rotary dryer. The location is in Vietnam so ambient external temperatures are quite high 30-40c and the dryer is rotating. We want to measure internal dryer temperature at least 4

Assuming that you don't exceed the temperature limits of the unit, and that there is sufficient signal strength, it should do the job

The WIFI loggers are not rated for mechanical shock, so if you intend to allow them to rotate along with the dryer drum, you should test that environmental aspect. The number of loggers supported will depend on the capacity of the router the loggers are connected to. A mid-range quality router is able to accommodate approximately 70 loggers before seeing dropouts. The provided software will handle the loggers local to one router, but will not aggregate the data from your multiple sites.

We are looking into using this logger as an OEM part in our instrument. The main application is written in LabVIEW. Do you provide a LabVIEW API that will enable us to programmatically set logging parameters, start/stop logging and retrieve logged data?

The WiFi-500 Series, which includes the WiFi-501-TP, are not compatible with LabVIEW. Currently the software that is packaged with these devices is the only form of software support that is provided. We do have other temperature products, such as a wireless device that uses 802.15 (PAN) that is supported by our ULx for NI LabVIEW drivers. Please contact Sales Engineering at 1-800-234-4232 x3 to discuss available opportunities for an OEM relationship or to discuss your application further.

Hello Non-stop data logging is very inconvenient. Is there any chance to control logging with a device button (i.e. press for X seconds until something like ON/OFF mesage appears on the screen). If I want to use the logger (being unused for several days) I have to delete thousands of logs. But after I run the software, I have to wait till all data is sent do PC to remove readings from a device. Of course I may set reading time to 12 hours, but it's not a convenient solution for me.

Hello - Historically data loggers were targeted towards remote long term data collection. And as such, these loggers were not designed to be configurable to stop logging after a short time duration. What may meet your needs better is a data acquisition (DAQ) device such as the USB-2408. It requires a local PC to run (not well suited for remote deployment), but the available software (such as DAQami) is more flexible. Note that DAQ hardware does not have sensors built in, so you would need to procure the desired sensors (temperature, humidity).

No re-calibration is possible for this model. Also, MCC does not offer calibration certificates for this model. It is warranted to meet published specs for 1 year. You could identify a 3rd party facility, and send the unit out to them. They would not calibrate it, but perhaps they could verify the accuracy.
