Answers

Just so we are clear. The USB cable has a ground wire and a shield. The shield from the USB cable is only terminated at the host end. It is not terminated to the ground of the USB-DIO32HS. However, the USB-DIO32HS does not provide any isolation so the ground of the USB cable is terminated to the ground of the USB-DIO32HS.

Do the digital I/O pins when configured as inputs have any sort of internal diode protection from ESD or other transients? What is the max current rating of these diodes? Thank you.

Yes, the USB-DIO32HS does provide ESD protection through the use of an ESD suppressor. Current rating for the suppressor is 30A with a max rating of 60A

Answers

Yes, the USB-DIO32HS supports concurrent input/output operations. Both input and output ports are independent of each other and run on separate pacer clocks. You can also synchronize them by using a single pacer clock to drive both input and output ports.
